Social Worker
Mehmet Onur Sezgun is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. He has experience supporting individuals and families through periods of emotional distress, life transitions, settlement-related stress, systemic barriers, housing instability, and other complex social needs. His work has focused on helping clients feel heard, supported, and better connected to the resources and care pathways available to them.
Mehmet's practice is grounded in compassion, respect, cultural humility, and a strong belief in meeting people where they are. He takes a collaborative and client-centred approach, recognizing that mental health and well-being are shaped not only by individual experiences, but also by family, community, culture, environment, and access to practical supports.
In his counselling work, Mehmet draws on trauma-informed care, strengths-based practice, cognitive behavioural strategies, dialectical behaviour therapy skills, motivational interviewing, mindfulness, grounding techniques, crisis intervention, and solution-focused approaches. His goal is to help clients build coping skills, strengthen emotional regulation, clarify their needs, and identify realistic next steps toward stability and well-being.
Before joining CarePoint Health, Mehmet worked in community-based counselling and social service roles, supporting diverse populations across the Greater Toronto Area. His background includes mental health support, advocacy, case management, service coordination, and resource navigation. At CarePoint Health, he is committed to providing warm, accessible, and respectful support to clients as they navigate challenges and work toward meaningful change.
